Job Summary

The Tech Suite Coordinator will support all aspects of operations in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance Brehm Technology Suite facilities, including the Chip Davis Technology Studio, Music Technology Lab, Control Room, Edit Rooms (2), and Prototyping/Fabrication Workshop. Included as integral to this role, but not limited to: inventory, maintenance, upgrades, and diagnostics of equipment, supplies, and systems; developing training materials; providing training to facility users; providing production assistance; creating and editing documentation of Tech Suite events. The position requires occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Maintain an online inventory system for equipment housed in the Tech Suite as well as portable equipment available for checkout by SMTD students and faculty.
Oversee equipment sign-outs to faculty, staff and studens; providing user training and support and ensuring that all equipment is accounted for and in working order.
Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly working environment in all Tech Suite facilities.
Work directly with faculty and SMTD communications staff to promote and document Tech Suite activities and events through email, web, and social media platforms.
Maintain internal and public-facing event calendars and schedules.
Develop and regularly update training materials for Tech Suite Facilities and equipment.
Create and maintain workflows in the form of presets, configurations, and documentation for major Tech Suite systems.
Design and deliver training sessions for Tech Suite users.
In coordination with SMTD IT staff: maintain equipment; diagnose problems and implement solutions or in-house repairs where possible; coordinate with vendors for external repairs when necessary.
Provide production assistance for Tech Suite events; produce video and audio documentation for Tech Suite events; edit, archive, and distribute event documentation.
Assist with faculty-led recording sessions.
Using university purchasing systems and customized internal workflows, manage inventory of supplies and components in the Tech Suite Workshop.
Maintain consistent and professional communications with all SMTD constituents including faculty, staff, students, and administration.
Create, update, and maintain access lists for Tech Suite facilities.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree in music technology, recording arts, sound engineering, or similar.
Expertise with the following technologies and techniques:
Dante digital audio networks
Live sound reinforcement and mixing
Studio techniques for sound recording and production
Digital and analog audio mixing consoles and control surfaces
Sound recording, editing, and mixing in ProTools
Video editing in Adobe Premiere and/or FinalCut
Soldering and simple electronics design/repair.
Impeccable organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Availability to work nights and weekends
Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Must be able to:
Routinely moves audio/visual equipment weighing up to 50lbs;
Occasionally ascends/descends ladders to service equipment;
Work evening and weekend hours as needed.

Desired Qualifications*
Graduate degree in music technology, recording arts, sound engineering, or similar.
Experience as a teacher or trainer in music technology.
High levels of proficiency with any of the following systems:
ETC DMX Lighting
Avid S6 Control Surface
Qualisys Motion Capture systems and QTM software
Epilog Laser Cutter or similar
Desktop CNC
3D printers
