Applications are requested for a post-doctoral researcher position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). The position will contribute to ongoing projects in the area of wearable medical sensors. Funding sources include the University of Massachusetts and the state of Massachusetts. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical progress on existing projects, developing new experimental and computational methods, and training new and existing students. Specific areas of expertise that will be advantageous include:

Low power microcontroller hardware and software design, implementation, debugging
Wireless data communication from untethered sensor to smartphone
Smartphone app development for managing data communication and display
Working with UMass Medical School research partner staff to facilitate human subject trials of sensor + smartphone system
Contributing to proposal writing for NSF, NIH, and other SBIR / STTR and similar grant programs
A Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, or closely related field is required. The candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, both in written reports and oral presentations.
