Are you an outstanding individual with experience of teaching in law, criminology or a relevant social science discipline? Do you have the ambition to join a thriving law school contributing to its further development? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience to undergraduate and postgraduate students?

The School of Law is committed to achieving excellence in student education. We are proud of our results in the National Student Survey over the last few years, being in the top 3 in the Russell Group in terms of overall student satisfaction, and student education lies at the heart of all we do. As part of our ongoing commitment to improve what we do in student education, we are seeking to appoint high calibre individuals with a strong teaching profile to complement our existing teaching strengths.

The post is open to outstanding teachers with the ability and willingness to deliver high quality teaching in law or criminal justice and criminology and an ability to contribute to the standing of the School’s Centre for Innovation and Research in Legal Education by demonstrating excellence in teaching and scholarship in the areas of law or criminal justice and criminology, the ability to promote pedagogical enhancement and innovative educational practice; engaging in curricula development and contributing to the School’s commitment to scholarship based developments in education.

You will deliver teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate modules in appropriate subject areas, as well as supervising dissertations. You will also be expected to undertake a normal load of administrative duties within the School and work within the context of University values and policies, which are designed to promote dignity, diversity and inclusiveness.

The appointment offers considerable potential for personal initiative and fulfilment through work within a centre of research excellence and a growing law school.

The School of Law values an inclusive working and teaching environment and our aim is to develop a diverse staff and student community reflective of this. We select candidates on the basis of merit and ability and aspire to further diversify our School and Faculty community. We particularly welcome applications from candidates belonging to groups that have been under-represented in the University including, but not limited to: Black, Asian and ethnically diverse people, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and disabled people.
