The HR Business Analyst will be a functional expert in a subspecialty within the HR Technology field. You will be responsible for ongoing support and development of systems, processes, solutions, features and functionality with respect to all enterprise HR technologies. You will play a key role on enterprise-wide HR technology projects, providing guidance on technological capabilities and solution alternatives. The role partners with both internal and external resources and plays a key role on various project teams to deliver solutions across campus.

Core responsibilities include:

Gathering requirements and designing solutions to optimize the management of human resources at the university

Act as a liaison between clients and HR technical team to accurately communicate business requirements and support systems and HR processes

Document and execute detailed solution designs, including functional/technical configuration and reporting requirements, new business processes, security, roles and responsibilities, key performance indicators and scheduling and testing as needed.

Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards

Collaborate with the project and process owners to insure delivery of optimal solutions within the specified timeframe

Assists with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to partners

Sharing industry leading practices and encouraging their adoption within the university

Identifying and illuminating decisions and the implications and proposing solutions

Other duties as assigned

You must demonstrate:

Ability to translate customer requirements into functional requirements in a concise manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team

Knowledge of HR processes and procedures

Excellent problem solving, analytical and reasoning skills.

Excellent organization, time management and planning skills

Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail

Highly self-motivated and directed

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A degree in Information Science, Computer Science or Human Resources is preferred; Master’s degree in same disciplines is also preferred.

A combination of three (3) years of experience in the following areas:

Experience gathering business requirements and documenting business processes in the field of Human Resources

Experience working with clients, technical professionals and project teams

Process and system testing experience

Preferred experience:

Experience supporting Human Resource technologies in a higher education setting

Experience supporting faculty, staff and students in regards to processes, customer service, or from a system perspective
