Are you looking for a career in animal science? Would you like to work in a team based at the National Pig Centre at one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?
The Faculty of Biological Sciences requires two research technicians to work on their pig research projects, based at the new state-of-the-art National Pig Centre at Spen Farm. The National Pig Centre is the UK’s largest and most advanced facility for research into pig nutrition, behaviour, health & welfare and production systems. The National Pig Centre co-develops research programmes in collaboration with academic and industry partners to address current agricultural challenges. You will work as part of a research team and will be involved in pig husbandry, data collection and monitoring of indoor and outdoor research trials and administrative duties relevant to the post.
You should be educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, with a desire to work with animals and an interest in farming and the countryside. You should also have the ability to complete technically challenging tasks, with care and precision.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was awarded a Silver award in 2020. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
