Job Description


Responsible for testing and analysis of all elements of the departmental network facilities. Must have the ability to multi-task and establish priorities. Good problem-solver with outstanding analytical skills.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and availability of server systems at Baylor College of Medicine. Works to resolve any issues found regarding infrastructure systems with limited work disruptions for the College.

Job Duties

  • Administer web and domain servers.
  • Provide technical support for users.
  • Advise on purchases and configurations of new hardware and software.
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot software and hardware.
  • Manage virtual servers and user accounts.
  • Research and recommend computer and software upgrades.
  • Maintain inventory of all computer equipment/software.
  • Monitor and control the performance and status of the network resources.
  • Maintain security through updates, patches, and proper permissions.
  • Manage, update and give access to MS SQL Server Database using MS Access front end.
  • Train and assist faculty, staff and students as needed on computer equipment/software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
  • Experience highly desired: MS SQL Server knowledge and MS Access.
