Job Description

Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: The Assistant Director will manage the Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in its stated mission to provide quality continuing education. While accomplishing this, this position will adhere and fulfill the requirements set forth by the ACCME in the Essentials and Standards to insure and maintain the accredited status of the College of Medicine. The duties involve formulating and implementing policy and criteria; define and direct all CME activities; educate and motivate faculty and department representatives involved in CME activities; acquire support from commercial companies; negotiate with site management personnel; and represent the Office of CME in national, regional and local CME organizations.


Manage internal and external CME activities to include grand rounds, journal clubs, off site meetings, and DVPs.
Adhere and comply with ACCME Essentials and Standards to insure UT College of Medicine accredited status. This involves the education of departmental personnel and presenting faculty of accreditation standards and completing necessary documentation.
Budgetary responsibility for CME activities
Acquire commercial support from outside companies
Negotiate with hotel and facilities for meetings
Interact with hospital executives, faculty, and Dean’s Office to develop, plan and staff activities.
Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required, Masters Preferred. Prefer business, education degree; five (5) experience related experience to include: conference planning, accreditation or teaching/research. Project management experience a plus. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, able to work independently, capable of handling multiple priorities, good computer skills, flexible under pressure. Must be able to travel, work night/weekends as necessary, interact with high level individuals and faculty. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
