Position Summary
Arts and Science is seeking a talented Payroll Assistant II. This individual will review and process faculty, part-time faculty, research, graduate and teaching assistant, and student employees' human resources and payroll related forms; monitor payroll processing and tracking of human resources data; initiate special check requests; review new hire packages, assist employees/Departments with new hire onboarding. Perform a wide range of clerical, secretarial and general office duties including those of a confidential nature. Prioritize office activities and delegate work to student and/or casual employees. May act as work leader to junior clerical support staff. Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of University and unit human resources and payroll policies and procedures. Interact with general public as NYU liaison and with University personnel including those at senior level to resolve issues and problems. Customize and/or compose letters/emails on own initiative or in response to requests for information. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create complex spreadsheets. Maintain computerized and manual records and files. Monitor complex department budgets and/or grants. Assist with AMI data entry. Input and update records and prepare file folders. Answer telephones, screen calls, and take messages.

Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
2 years' office experience.

Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with MS Word and Excel.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency using basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Light keyboarding skills (25-39 words per minute)
