Job DescriptionBasic Function:
The Research Engineer/Glassblower will build and/or repair a variety of custom scientific glassware and electronic equipment. A willingness to learn basic electronics and vacuum pump repair and apply these skills in support of the chemistry research and teaching missions of the department is also required. The position requires direct interactions with academic faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Additional duties include communicating with vendors and technical support for instrument and glassware repair.

Examples of Duties:
Maintenance and construction of custom scientific glassware and apparatuses as well as routine service of electronic equipment.
A willingness to learn basic electronics and vacuum pump repair and apply these skills in support of the chemistry research and teaching missions of the department.
Provide assistance in the operation of instruments, and training of the users of instruments, which are the within the scope of responsibility.
Work with faculty and graduate students on research projects.
Additional duties, including but not exclusively, communicating with vendors and technical support for instrument repair.
Assist Senior Research Engineer as needed.
The Research Engineer II must also provide training, advice, support and expert operator services as needed by users.
