Job Description

Provide support to the Vice President of Governmental Relations with all initiatives in corporate and employers engagement arenas; will spend a significant amount of time building relationships with employers and organizations in Indianapolis, as well as on campus in Muncie.

Job Function:

Provide support to the Vice President of Governmental Relations with all initiatives in corporate and employers engagement arenas; will spend a significant amount of time building relationships with employers and organizations in Indianapolis, as well as on campus in Muncie.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 

Minimum Experience:

At least three years experience working in or with federal, state, or local government, in or around economic development, talent development or related area. 

Preferred Experience:

Experience with state-level policy development or economic development in the State of Indiana. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the University Core Team, officers, faculty, and staff to create and maintain a central repository for all employer and corporate engagement activities across the university. 
  • Build and maintain an understanding of each academic department and participate in the development of strategy of potential areas of opportunity to engage with the employer community.
  • Provide support to and help to facilitate the activities of the University Core Team to ensure University-wide coordination and advancement of opportunities to engage with the employer community. 
  • Build relationships between key University employees and the business community, as well as policymakers, including setting up meetings and coordinating events to highlight opportunities to engage with the  University.
  • Monitor policy initiatives related to workforce training and economic development proposed underway in the State of Indiana.
  • Monitor industry best practices and other states’ initiatives related to workforce training and university economic engagement activities. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
