About This Role:

The College of Health and Human Sciences is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join their team in the Dean’s Office. This full-time, 12-month position will assist the HR Analyst with the day-to-day HR functions in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Specifically, the HR Assistant will help with recruitment, payroll, scanning, hiring and terminating hourly and graduate student appointments, and keeping position management data up to date in HRIS. This position will also provide administrative support to the Departments of Applied Human Sciences (AHS) and Personal Financial Planning (PFP). These duties include maintaining office supply inventory, arranging meetings, and taking notes during meetings. This position reports to the HR Analyst.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Complete appointment paperwork with hourly students and graduate students
Submit background check requests for new graduate student appointments
Enter initial funding, end dates, pay rate changes, and supervisor information in HRIS for hourly student and graduate appointments
When required, provide international graduate students on assistantships with a Verification of Employment letter to obtain their SSN
Assist HR Analyst with gathering summer appointment information from departments
Assist HR Analyst in management of active requisitions in PageUp, including moving applicants through the appropriate statuses and gathering documentation and notes from search committees
Help monitor the HHS central HR email account and route emails to the appropriate person
Assist HR Analyst with payroll/time and leave entry
Maintain office supply inventory and distribute mail for AHS and PFP
Coordinate graduate assistantship offer letters for AHS

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma
One year of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, human resources management, or related field
Experience with HRIS
Experience with PageUp
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of employment law
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to prioritize tasks
