Job Description

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Molecular Virology. Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

Project Title: Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpesvirus - Host Chaperone Interactions

We are seeking a highly motivated research fellow to investigate how the human tumour virus, Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), manipulates host cell chaperone pathways to enhance its own replication. The post will be based in the Whitehouse research group, Leeds. The project will use a range of molecular and genomic-based approaches to highlight a novel KSHV-mediated mechanism to regulate viral gene expression. Moreover, this project aims to identify novel targets for antiviral intervention for this important human tumour virus.

You should have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Molecular Virology, Cell Biology or a related discipline is required, with experience in growth, analysis and manipulation of Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus. Excellent communication skills and evidence of a good publication track record are also essential. You will join a highly active research group studying various aspects of human tumour virus biology.
