Join our professional HR - Benefits - Retirement team at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in the largest medical center in the world, the Texas Medical Center. You will perform the day-to-day administration of the Baylor College of Medicine retirement plans, including loan and distribution processing, determination of forfeitures and reinstatements, guidance and counsel to employees by responding to emails and daily phone calls, and ensuring consistency of plan interpretation and administration. Strong data analytical and report writing skills are an essential part of the position in support of the annual audit and other compliance activities.  In addition, you will contribute to the planning, communication, and execution of our Financial Wellness program, part of the award-winning BCM BeWell Wellness program.

Job Duties

  • Monitors eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of retirement plan participation, and ensures compliance with plan provisions.
  • Assists in developing retirement benefits communications and advises employees on retirement-related issues.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to employees by responding to ask-retirement emails and daily phone calls. 
  • Compiles, analyzes, and reports data necessary to complete government compliance activities (5500s, audits, etc.).
  • Maintains employee confidence by keeping benefit information confidential.
  • Runs reports to provide data needed to send retirement benefit notices in compliance with ERISA and other Federal and state laws and regulations. 
  • Assists in the daily administration of Company retirement plans, including, without limitation, enrollments, 403(b) deductions, loan and distribution processing, determination of forfeitures and reinstatements for the 401(a) plan.
  • Responds to audit requests for annual audits for 5500 filings required by ERISA and other Federal regulations.
  • Manages error processing of 401(a), 403(b), and 457(b) deferral and loan payments each pay period.
  • Troubleshoots master recordkeeper interface demographic files and takes appropriate action to correct any issues with benefit enrollments and changes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • 4 - 5 years of experience in benefits, with some retirement benefit processing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of use of employee benefit carrier feeds and websites for purposes of monitoring enrollment, terminations, contribution and demographic changes, as well as reporting.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information on a one-on-one and group basis and to all employee levels within the organization.
  • Intermediate to advanced expertise with Microsoft Office software products, in particular Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
