Position Highlights:

This position provides administrative direction to the supervisor and other clinical support staff in the sterile processing department. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership regarding all facets of sterile processing and accountable for the initiation and completion of operational plans that ensure quality while utilizing available resources efficiently. The incumbent ensures that the departmental operations are in alignment with Moffitt mission, values, and excellence goals. This position requires a sound knowledge of Sterile Processing practice and exceptional leadership abilities. To be knowledgeable of current trends and developments in the field of Clinical Sterile Processes. Assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the overall management of the department

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years’ experience as a Surgical Tech or Sterile Processing Tech
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Sterile Processing in a supervisory role


  • Responsible to maintain ongoing/daily operations of the department
  • Utilizes IAHCSMM and AAMI recommendations and/or protocols to guide practice for proper disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation for safe patient care
  • Monitor all staff functions along with any Human Resource issues/concerns
  • Provide on-going instruction/training and assistance to the Sterile Processing staff related to policies of unit, infection control principles and emerging technologies.
  • Manages the financial integrity of the department through the identification of problems effecting cost-effective practices and assists with their resolution.


Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • CRST or SPD Certification
  • BLS
