The Senior Director, Marketing, Recruitment & External Relations is responsible for the oversight and support of the marketing, recruitment, evaluation and admissions processes. In support of the Dean, oversees the KSOE's external affairs, including communication, alumni relations, and other special programming. The Sr. Director serves as a member of the KSOE leadership team, which informs marketing, communication, enrollment management, program planning, budget management personnel matters, and strategic priorities. The Sr. Director is responsible for public relations including communications, print and social media, and web presence. They develop and implement admissions and marketing strategies within KSOE. The Sr. director is expected to lead and support KSOE's commitment to Catholic, Lasallian values including diversity, equity, and inclusion.

STRATEGIC MARKING AND RECRUITMENT Communicate and implement the strategic marketing for admissions/recruitment plan for KSOE. Responsible for gathering, analyzing and integrating enrollment related market research and developing effective programs to achieve enrollment targets. Responsible for adhering to the admissions & marketing budget. Develop an effective recruiting strategy that meets KSOE program goals and enrollment targets. Coordinate faculty and staff representatives to attend on-campus and off-campus recruiting events. Based on market research & prospect/student feedback, recommend and implement changes that will improve KSOE's competitive position. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Enrollment Services, Accreditation
& Student Success to understand enrollment management, accreditation and data analysis as it relates to prospects and applicants. Responsible for streamlining the entire admissions process from prospect to enrolled student. Designs and implements new processes and procedures based on data.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT AND PROGRAM REVIEW Develop and manage annual budgets and planning processes for recruitment related marketing, external communications and other special programming, and oversee assessment and evaluation of these areas.
Interpret, implement and ensure compliance with university, academic and administrative policies. Recommend new internal policies, guidelines and procedures related to graduate- and academic center-related marketing, recruitment and communication.

PROMOTIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS Contribute to KSOE and center-wide event publicity, including newsletter, commencement, speaker series, learn events, celebrations; Assist with web content development; and support key annual events for the KSOE including speaker series, community events, and the Center for Environmental Literacy events including the River of Words program. Develop effective print, online, ads, collateral and advertising (brochures, special insert, reprints, testimonials, flyers) in coordination with the KSOE Director of Marketing & Design and the SMC Office of College Communication to insure website effectively markets KSOE programs.

Responsible for the KSOE's communication, engagement, & outreach to alumni volunteers and external relations efforts that build and sustain the work of the School. Responsible for cultivating, tracking and developing KSOE alumni relationships; collaborate with KSOE academic programs and centers to conduct alumni communications and events. Lead a wide range of external and community facing events to engage alumni and friends of the KSOE; Work closely with SMC and KSOE colleagues to align program goals with overall alumni, communication and outreach goals.

TEAM MANAGEMENT Lead and manage staff to oversee internal and external communications to all stakeholders (students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community partners), including print, web, and social media activities. Responsible for professional development for direct reports and accountable for their performance. Supervision of Admissions & Outreach Specialist and Admissions counselors/recruiter(s). Lead KSOE user and trainer on SLATE platform. Collaborate with other departments on campus to build relationships and leverage best practices (college communications, financial aid,
admissions, advancement, information technology, career center, centralized admissions, and slate team)

3-5 years of recruiting or admissions in higher education (preferably in graduate education program

This position requires strong planning and communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to positively represent Saint Mary's College to the public at large. Excellent verbal and written skills, including public speaking skills; able to work independently and as a member of a team; high level of initiative; outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/deadlines; strong proficiency in using Windows operating systems, MS Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint), email and internet usage; experience working with databases and database management; experience working with social networking sites (ex: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc); strong eye for detail; ability to work cooperatively and effectively with all members of a culturally diverse campus community.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation. Ability to translate complex concepts into compelling development proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of students, faculty, staff, executives, and community leaders.
  • Advanced project management skills, including skills to plan and implement successful events.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and working with volunteers, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service education in higher education.
  • Proficiency working with fundraising databases is desirable.
  • Prior experience in fundraising and donor relations in postsecondary environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in building community among different groups in university and community settings.
  • Ability to effectively utilize and keep up-to-date with software packages (Microsoft Office suite is currently used), social media, and other communication technologies.
  • Ability to effectively and creatively lead teams and manage/supervise diverse
  • operational groups towards excellence in execution and scaling.
  • Ability to manage complex personnel and financial issues, including developing, analyzing and monitoring complicated budgets.

Other Requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work) Evening and weekend hours are required. Travel to various recruiting events in the Bay Area is also required. There are an average 2-3 travel events per month, and an average of 4-5 evening events per month with the occasional Saturday event.
