Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
For this position, candidates must have at least one of the following: 
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR 
2. Any associate degree and six years of professional experience, OR 
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR 
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above. 

Applicants must also have: 

Current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential. Background knowledge of Health Information Management (HIM) theory and practice consistent with the teaching assignment as required by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and Commission on Accreditation for Health Information and Information Management (CAHIIM) standards.

Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate a high level of professional expertise on the basis of: 

· Two years full-time (or equivalent) recent and successful experience teaching adult learners
· Two years full-time experience working in health information management
· Experience with various health information software
· Master’s degree or higher in a health-related field from an accredited college or university
· Previous experience in developing curriculum at the college or university level
· Recent or current teaching experience at the community college level
· Knowledge of and an ability to integrate technology in the classroom and to be able to use technology to offer curriculum and student learning through diverse delivery modes
· Current knowledge of online best practices and Learning Management Systems (LMS) platforms
· Additional (AHIMA) credentials such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), or Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS)
