An opportunity for an Electrical Engineer Intermediate is available with Facilities Planning and Development at University of Michigan Health. The position reports to the Manager of Engineering, and you will perform a variety of engineering work in planning and design of the various electrical systems used in UM Health facilities.

Performs a variety of engineering work in planning and design of the various electrical systems used in healthcare facilities. These systems include power, lighting, and various specialty systems (nurse call, security, data, etc). Coordination, and/or participation in the preparation of estimates, and/or plans and specifications for several concurrent new building, building renovation, and/or infrastructure upgrade projects. Able to put together a set of Construction Documents (CDs) for execution by turnkey, or bid & award construction process. Such projects may be single discipline or multi-discipline.
Works with and manages external architectural/ engineering consultants in the design and construction industry. Review and comment upon completed construction document packages, studies, and other such planning documents.
Participate in the construction phase portion of the project in the preparation and/or review of request for information (RFI's), bulletins, contract change documents (CCD), etc. Review shop drawings, perform field inspections, and punch lists, etc.
Has troubleshooting involvement in, and coordination with, the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including power distribution, emergency power, lighting and other specialty systems.
Responsible for participating in professional engineering committees to establish design guideline requirements for the institution.
Required Qualifications*
Intermediate Level

Bachelor degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position.
1 - 3 years professional experience.
Candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Assoiciate Level

0-1 years of professional experince
Entry level for employees with Bachelor Degree or equivalent
Desired Qualifications*
Experience as an Electrical Engineer in the planning, design and construction of electrical systems within commercial/ institutional facilities.

A Professional Engineer license, or track to becoming licensed.

Familiarity with all normally encountered office automation software (Microsoft products, email, etc) and AutoCAD design experience.
