Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
For this position, candidates must have at least one of the following: 
1. Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education from an accredited college or university; OR 
2. Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies from an accredited college or university, OR 
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR 
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above.

Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of expertise on the basis of: 
- Leadership, policy, and/or advocacy in early care and education at the federal and state level.
- Early childhood curriculum (infant/toddler, preschool and/or early elementary) 
- Developmental psychology 
- Trauma-informed early care and education 
- Extensive on-the-floor experience with children in licensed child care facilities
- Experience administering an early care and education program 
- Experience teaching at the college or university level 
- Experience teaching in an online environment

Candidates with knowledge of the anti-bias approach and other aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion of teaching early educators are preferred.
