Student Life and Engagement

The Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Engagement (AVP), responsible for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), serves as a key facilitator of relationships across campus in the interest of promoting student learning while sustaining an engaged student experience on behalf of the Division of Student Life and Engagement (SLE). As a member of the Division’s leadership team, the AVP supports the development and enhancement of the associated units and works collaboratively with other members of the team in setting strategic direction, initiatives, and coordination of DEIB activities across the Division. The AVP provides leadership for a comprehensive array of student services and student development programs and functions focused on student success in areas including, but not limited to, ethnic/racial and LBGTQIA+ identity, international engagement, women’s student services, veterans support and services, student parent support and services, services for students with disabilities, religious and spiritual identities, and other student support services as appropriate. The AVP-DEIB reports to the Senior Vice President for Student Life and Engagement.


Successful candidates must have a master’s degree and a terminal degree in a related field is desired. The successful candidate will be required to possess comprehensive knowledge of general student service methods and theory; comprehensive knowledge of educational procedures and practices; the ability to organize, direct and evaluate student services programs; the ability to prepare statistical material effectively; the ability to get along well with others; and will exhibit sound professional judgment and initiative. Training in college student development with experience at the mid-to-upper management level is highly desired.
