Job Description

Are you committed to leading and developing an exceptional student experience, working with external partners to provide a rich, diverse portfolio of opportunities for all students to access and benefit from?

Are you a collegiate and inclusive leader, who can bring together teams focused on supporting students’ personal and professional development? Are you adept at building partnerships with external organisations? Can you lead a complex and evolving portfolio of opportunities, and manage risk?

The University of Leeds has a strong reputation for developing and delivering opportunities for our students. With an ever-changing external environment we are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our strategic and operational response to support a creative and engaging portfolio of opportunities that appeal and respond to our diverse student body.

As Head of Student Placement, you will be responsible for overseeing a large team that combines our global opportunities, employer engagement, work placement, and volunteering teams. You will ensure the smooth running of these areas, managing resources and identifying and actively mitigating risks.

You will seek opportunities to increase the uptake of opportunities by those groups of students and postgraduate researchers least likely to engage, as well as ensuring high standards in opportunities provision for learners of all levels.

Leading our approach to external engagement you will foster and develop a business engagement mindset to capitalise on mutually beneficial collaboration locally and internationally.

You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Student Opportunity and work collaboratively and closely with other Student Opportunity Heads of Service as well as Faculty Leadership to ensure our services are positioned to support the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives. You will build effective relationships within and beyond the Student Education Service, taking a highly collaborative approach to planning and delivery.
