We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for an exciting role as a Research Technician in the recently formed Proteins, Interactions, X-Ray and Characterisation (PIXC) research facility within the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be to support users of the research facility in molecular biology, protein purification and protein characterisation. This will include training in the use of facility equipment, supporting users during its use, and maintaining the equipment. You will also be required to perform molecular cloning, protein purification and characterisation on behalf of facility users, keeping accurate records throughout the workflow, and providing results to facility users. You will also be responsible for performing expression/purifications for external clients.
You should be educated to Degree, BTEC higher level or have equivalent experience in molecular biology or a closely allied discipline, together with experience in molecular cloning and a good understanding of, as well as experience in, protein expression and purification. You will be required to work as part of a team and possess strong IT skills. Previous experience with mammalian and insect cell protein expression, as well as chromatography systems (e.g. AKTAs) and lab automation, would also be desirable.
