Position Description

Rider University invites applications for the Director of the Dr. Eugene Marsh Center for Veterans and Military Affairs.  This individual will provide leadership and oversight of programs, resources, outreach, and support for all military-connected students at Rider University. 
 
Specifically, the individual will be responsible for:
 
  • serving as a liaison for military connected students as they navigate through the admissions, financial aid, payment, registration, and credit evaluation process;
  • maintaining status and training as a “Read Only” VA School Certifying Official while supporting the Registrar and other offices for VA-ONCE certifications;
  • advising and supporting student organization, Rider University Veterans Association (RUVA);
  • conducting customized information sessions for veterans that address availability of resources for the veteran population and be able to assist veteran students with veteran administration topics and subjects. (e.g. GI Bills, VSOs, other veteran’s benefits);
  • assisting in the management and appropriation of funds from the Rider Veteran Fund (RVF); 
  • conducting ongoing analysis regarding veteran and military connected student data relating to program services; 
  • attending Rider recruitment and outreach events for military connected students (e.g. open houses, admitted student days, tours, etc.); and 
  • organizing and supervising the 9/11 Ceremony and Veterans Week activities.
 
This is a part-time, 10-month position.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs and concerns of veterans and military-connected students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of veterans benefits
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with and support students with diverse backgrounds and social identities
  • Demonstrated administrative and event-planning experience

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Prior military experience
  • Prior experience in the higher education setting
