Position Description

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of Musical Theater Directing for the Fall Semester beginning Fall 2022. This position is to direct the department’s production of Urinetown. Rehearsals begin September 6, 2022 and the show opens October 7, 2022.

Position Requirements

  • MFA in acting or directing, terminal degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Professional and/or academic experience in the field of Musical Theater
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a production team to realize a script into a fully staged production
  • Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback to actors
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to lead productive, efficient, and pedagogically sound rehearsals

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • National or regional profile as an actor or director
  • Prior experience working with college-aged actors
  • Experience as a dance choreographer
