Job Description

Do you have a sharp attention to detail to provide project support for key research programmes? Are you an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and co-ordination skills? Would you like to support exciting research programmes accelerating the development of novel diagnostics?

We are seeking an enthusiastic project officer to provide support to the National Institute of Health Research Medtech and In Vitro Diagnostics Cooperative (NIHR Leeds MIC). Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Programme Manager, you will provide comprehensive support for the delivery of key research programmes.

The NIHR Leeds MIC is a partnership between the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) and the University of Leeds. It has been set up to add value to the transit of in-vitro diagnostic devices (IVDs) through to patient benefit and the commercial market place (https://www.leedsmic.nihr.ac.uk/). Four areas underpin the scientific programme: infection diagnostics, musculoskeletal, renal medicine and oncology. The NIHR Leeds MIC acts as a catalyst for the generation of high quality evidence of clinical validity and cost effectiveness of commercially supplied IVDs. It enables collaboration between the IVD industry, clinicians, and the NHS academic researchers and patients groups.

You will provide project support across a portfolio of IVD research programmes and projects. Your role will be varied with the opportunity to get involved in many areas of the various research programmes. This position is ideally suited to an individual interested in facilitating clinical innovation and translation for patient benefit.

You will be based primarily at the City Campus, and will liaise closely with personnel at St James’s University Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary.
