Work requires the level of general educational development normally acquired by completing an Associate’s degree, and six to twelve months of work-related experience. Requires written communication and word processing skills to compose, type, and proofread correspondence as well as basic math skills to compile figures for reports.

General Summary
Performs administrative support duties, special technical support, and office management for the Admissions Office. Duties include but are not limited to: responding to student inquiries, explaining admission procedures, college programs, general nursing duties, and conducting file management; scheduling, for pre- and post-assessment, etc. Will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responds to phone, email, and walk-in student inquiries. Provides information about college programs, admissions procedures, class scheduling, and assessment scheduling etc., to prospective students and the general public.

Schedules appointments for all members of the Grand Island Admissions and Nursing Admissions department. When necessary, uses independent judgement to respond to sensitive student needs; maintains confidentiality.

Tracking inquiries for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), and Practical Nursing (PN).

Keeps a file of contingent letters used to respond to inquiries about admission to the ADN and PN programs and to notify nursing applicants of eligibility status.

Works daily with Nursing Advisor for progression of nursing student files which can include advising, status of letters, mailings and/or nursing applicant status reports.

Maintains reports of students’ status into the PN and ADN programs by reviewing files daily for updated information regarding TEAS testing, transcripts, grades and course sequence.

Collects incoming college transcripts from prospective nursing students. Reviews college transcript for transferable credits towards meeting nursing program requirements specific to type of course, year course was taken, grade received in course, etc.

Reviews student files and documentation towards student credentials (Nursing Assistant Certification, Immunizations, and CPR validity, etc.)

Coordinates special projects when assigned and assists with New Student Orientation, as well as other programs the admissions/counseling department coordinates.

Direct contact for students inquiring about status into the nursing programs. Evaluates files, performs basic advising of nursing program entrance and status.
