Department Summary
The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.

HPS students are trained to lead nonprofits, become educators, researchers and professionals who strengthen the diverse communities we serve with thoughtful, inclusive and equitable practices as audiologists, behavior analysts, city managers, emergency managers, health care administrators, public safety administrators, public health specialists, rehabilitation counselors, speech language pathologists, social workers, urban planners and more.

Located within HPS, the Department of Behavior Analysis prepares graduates for careers in behavior analysis as researchers, academicians and applied behavior analysts. The department has been training students in behavior analysis for over 30 years and has been recognized for Enduring Programmatic Contributions to the discipline. We offer four degree programs: an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis, a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Behavior Analysis.

The Department of Behavior Analysis consists of nine faculty members and approximately 100 graduate students (MS and Doctoral students combined). The department maintains a friendly and casual work atmosphere. Successful candidates for the Senior Administrative Specialist position can expect to become a part of a cohesive and effective team of staff and faculty working to best serve our students across four degree programs.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for managing the administrative operations and customer related services for a department or program. Coordinates activities and acts as department/area liaison handling issues that are very sensitive and confidential. This position serves as the primary contact for a specified program or departmental functions to include recommending and Implementing administrative departmental procedures. Duties have substantial variety and are often not routine.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex
nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned
function.

Preferred Qualifications
Some familiarity with or interest in modern technologies to solve problems (e.g., CRM software; meeting planners; graphing and charting software, etc.)

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Some flexibility needed for events and other occurrences.
