Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in Chen’s laboratory in the Department of Surgery, University of Missouri School of Medicine. The research program will examine molecular mechanisms underlying the development of cardiovascular diseases with a focus on smooth muscle phenotypic modulation in vascular remodeling, atherosclerosis, or aortic aneurysm formation. Successful candidates should be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and have a Ph.D. in biological sciences with experience/expertise in cardiovascular research as well as solid publications. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in smooth muscle, endothelial cells, or macrophages with strong molecular and cell biology training. Experience with animal models such as artery injury, atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm is also highly desirable. The position is supported by the MU Research Excellence Postdoc Program (REP) which is aimed to support for faculty and postdoctoral scholars to successfully pursue major external funding. In addition to the cutting-edge research, multiple professional development activities will be provided by the Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Education and the Research & Grant Development Specialist.
