The university is posting both positions to ensure a sufficient applicant pool to fill this need. The hiring department will first consider applicants from the higher-level position. If the lower level posting yields the successful candidate, the hiring department intends to develop the candidate in preparation for the higher level position. Job Description
REMOTE – Ohio University’s Office of Information Technology is seeking qualified applicants for the Application Systems Analyst III position.

This position is a senior member of the packaged and productivity solutions team and is responsible for working with IT staff and business customers to understand requirements and system capabilities to propose, build/configure, and implement moderate to highly complex or critical business processes/systems using existing tools and technologies that may require design or integrations of technical solutions that cross multiple functions of the university. Provides technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations and requirements of the existing tools and technologies. Serves as a project team member for projects large in scope, high complexity and may be enterprise wide.

Duties include:
Planning/Technical Requirements/System Specifications – Participates in business short-term and long-term planning sessions to ensure understanding of business goals, direction and business requirements; Participates in creation of and may develop cost estimates for the planning of new systems/enhancements for existing systems; Translates business requirements into technical requirements; Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on user needs and understanding of business processes; Develops, writes, and communicates systems design, functional system specifications and functional architecture analysis; Identifies gaps or issues.
System Improvements/Testing/Documentation – Performs system analysis, design, and configuration; Understands and analyzes customers’ systems to determine strengths and weaknesses and provide system improvements/modifications; Reviews test plans and monitors testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk; Develops system test cases and validates test results during testing; Analyzes testing results to ensure the solution meets the needs of the business; Facilitates issue resolution; Documents system modifications; Develops system manuals; Provides input for training materials.
Leadership/Research/Technical Evaluation – Servers as a project team lead; Coaches and transfers knowledge to less experienced team members; Ensures work, information, ideas, and technology flow freely across teams; Keeps abreast of new emerging technologies; Participates in evaluations, selection and application of new and emerging tools and techniques; Analyzes technology trends to determine impact to the achievement of organizational and team goals; Identifies issues and makes recommendations based on impact of new/emerging technology or modifications to existing systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
3+ years of professional experience in a technology-related position.
Proficient in at least one programming language.
Strong analytical, technical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with process review, management, redesign and documentation.
Ability to work effectively in both an individual and team dynamic (cross-functional teams).
Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize and execute on initiatives in a fluid landscape.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail, customer service and commitment to excellence.
Ability to understand strategic and business objectives and how they might impact the business process design and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with REST APIs
Experience working in higher education.
Experience working on an Agile Scrum team.
Experience mentoring, coaching and developing others.
Goal-oriented and driven attitude with a superior ability to execute and sustain a high sense of urgency.
