Position Highlights

 

The Health Information Management (“HIM”) Operations Integrity Manager plans, organizes and controls the activities within the operation components of the HIM Department. That includes communicating expectations to Supervisors and overseeing the activities of the Supervisors in areas that include staffing, employee discipline, training, evaluation, feedback and recognition.  Manages staff engaged in all aspects of medical records maintenance, transcription, physician notification, release of information, MD database maintenance, document imaging, chart delinquency rate, compliance data analysis and metrics. While collaborating with the Director of HIM, the manager assures compliance with internal departmental standards of behavior and quality metrics are done as well as assuring compliance with Federal and State law, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as it relates to Personal Health Information (PHI).

 

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Advance knowledge of Electronic Health Record systems and the integration with operational systems such as chart deficiency analysis, release of information, transcription and scanning services.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the selection of staff that has qualifications and experience to perform an assigned job.
  • Orienting and mentoring staff to assure high levels of performance. Assure all are trained in HIPAA, Security and or acclimated to the HIM Department and Moffitt rules and regulations.
  • Monitoring of the EHR system including the reporting of data quality metrics.
  • Ensure the quality and turnaround times for dictation are aligned with departmental standards of production and quality.
  • Monitors the delinquent chart management system, evaluates the delinquent chart counts and reports findings to senior leadership and the medical staff, recommends and implements corrective actions to keep the delinquency rate under predefined thresholds.
  • Monitors turnaround times for release of information to ensure legal compliance with state and Federal mandates governing the release of information time frames.
  • Monitors Release of Information Customer Service Representatives and Release of Information Technicians (processors) to ensure the highest level of customer service in accordance with AIDET and PROMISE.
  • Interacts with systems support staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to HIM Operations Systems.
  • Builds and maintains inter- and intra-departmental work relationships that support the department, and assure optimal operations.
  • Ensure the quality and turnaround times for dictation are aligned with departmental standards of production and quality.
  • Supports the coding function by assuring timely processing and completion of discharge records.

 

 

Credentials and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

 

  • At least two (2) years’ experience in Health Information Medical records department sub-areas and/or supporting departments with ROI knowledge/Scanning/Deficiency and Documentation Integrity knowledge required.

 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive HIM operational leadership role experience.

**Associate’s degree and eight (8) years of additional relevant Health Information Medical records department sub-areas and/or supporting departments with ROI knowledge/Scanning/Deficiency and Documentation Integrity knowledge plus the two (2) years of Health Information Medical records experience required (for a total of ten (10) years) of Health Information Medical records department experience will be considered “in lieu” of the Bachelor’s degree.**

 

Preferred:

  • Any one of the following certifications: RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator; RHIT-Registered Health Information Technician; CHPS-Certified Healthcare Privacy and Security; CMT-Certified Medical Transcriptionist; CHDS-Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist would be preferred.
