The MFA in Dance educates the whole dance artist. Through the lens of a liberal arts curriculum, the program's values are shaped by the quest for truth, authenticity and community building in a holistic model that integrates mind, body and spirit. The MFA in Dance offers two unique MFA degrees in dance: Creative Practice and Design & Production. Creative Practice has a low-residency option and the Design & Production MFA is the only one in the country specifically for dance.

Responsibilities: The MFA in Dance Program is looking for an adjunct faculty member to teach PERFA 386 Laban And Bartenieff Movement Studies in Fall 2022. This course will be taught in an online modality.

Mondays, 4:30pm-6:30pm

Position Description:

Saint Mary's College of California invites applications for an adjunct position for the MFA in Dance: Creative Practice. We seek candidates with expertise in dance and somatics.

The MFA in Dance educates the whole dance artist. The MFA in Dance offers two unique MFA degrees in dance: Creative Practice and Design & Production. Course description: This course is an introduction and application of the theoretical system of Laban Movement Analysis that provides a framework for observing, describing and analyzing human movement patterns and understanding non-verbal actions and communication, as developed by movement pioneer Rudolph Laban and his disciples. The class is lecture, seminar and experiential.



Qualifications:
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MA, MFA or other terminal degree in the appropriate field or equivalent knowledge and experience in the field of dance and somatics. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered teaching in the liberal arts tradition, and show evidence of teaching effectiveness among graduate students. Prior teaching experience and/or professional experience is preferred.

Instructor must be available to teach online on Mondays from 4:30-6:30pm in Fall 2022.
