Summary

Research Technician II performs responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring and expertise specific to neuroscience research. Uses own initiative or is supervised by hiring manager in planning and completing advanced medical or research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator. 

Job Duties

  • Maintains laboratory operations, conditions existing equipment, and schedules laboratory activities and procedures.
  • Coordinates purchases of equipment and supplies.
  • Schedules service for equipment and orders laboratory supplies.
  • Performs general laboratory procedures and maintains laboratory organization.
  • Ensures compliance of policies and regulations of laboratory and research personnel.
  • Coordinates and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Assists in development and updates of protocols and submissions to Animal and Human Committees.
  • Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
  • Supervises, schedules and coordinates the activities of staff involved with animal research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
