The University of Nevada, Reno KUNR Public Media seeks a Manager, Business and Operations for our radio stations and digital outlets in scenic Reno, Nevada. The Manager, Business and Operations is critical to the consistent and efficient operation of of KUNR, including the business office, budget, finance, technical, regulatory and HR matters. KUNR is an important and visible service of the University of Nevada, Reno, throughout the region. The position works closely with underwriting and membership staff and the front office team to establish financial goals, operational procedures and to set budget and funding priorities. The Manager, Business and Operations works proactively and collaboratively across the station to handle or assign routine daily administrative or operational projects to resolve or avoid problems prior to escalation to the General Manager.
The Manager, Business and Operations manages adherence to periodic deadlines, processes and requirements of university entities, regulatory agencies, content distributors and funding sources. The Manager, Business and Operations efficiently and systematically provides advance notice to and works closely with the station staff, engineer, university staff, and/or Station Manager to ensure steps are completed for requirements to be met by the deadlines. The Manager, Business and Operations works with on-air staff, outside consultants, the station engineer and external organizations to acquire content and support services. It serves as a liaison with the communities where KUNR broadcasts. Occasional travel to the rural communities may be necessary to address technical issues and establish rapport.
Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of related work experience; OR a Master’s degree and two (2) years of related work experience.
Related Professional Experience: Experience in either business operations management or broadcasting operations; one year of supervisory experience required.
