Job Description

Job Summary
Develop, coordinate, and execute a wide range of strategic communications strategies. Perform a variety of communications and project management tasks using good judgment and interpersonal skills to support University of Utah College of Pharmacy (COP) goals.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to assist COP in accomplishing strategic priorities.
Manage COP content strategy, employing electronic and traditional means to share stories, increase awareness and promote events to students, prospective students, faculty, and staff.
Develop and communicate strategic messaging to internal and external stakeholders—internal and external. Traditional print media, electronic and social media, advertising campaigns, events, etc.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams: COP, college departments, Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team, Advancement office.

Monitor effectiveness of communications strategy/tactics and adjust when necessary.
Assist in recruitment students to multiple academic programs within COP, especially Doctor of Pharmacy.

Serve as a brand ambassador and liaison between COP and U of U Health MarCom.

Review COP public-facing content and materials for brand standard and style compliance.
Serve as a point of contact for media. Includes monitoring media and working with MarCom public affairs team on developing and pitching stories, arranging interviews, etc.

Balance conflicting interests in an environment of competing priorities.

Work comfortably under minimal supervision and be accountable for results. Exceptional writing and editing skills desired. Agency experience a plus.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency; excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.

Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
