Summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Molecular and Human Genetics is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate.  Our research interest scope ranges from fundamental basic molecular mechanisms of DNA repair, recombination and replication, to clinical applications. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on a project to study antibiotic-induced mutagenesis and roles of the stringent response in it, in Escherichia coli.  This position will lead a project on how quinolones induce mutagenesis. This position will require expertise in flow cytometry of bacteria, E. coli stress responses and stress-induced mutagenesis.

Job Duties

  • Constructs strains, performs experiments and analyzes the data.
  • Develops genetic next generation sequencing assays.
  • Writes, revises and takes full responsibility of first-author manuscript publications associated with their research projects. 
  • Documents experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others. 
  • Trains graduate students to continue development of the research project.
  • Presents research findings as part of scientific meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
