Summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Molecular and Human Genetics is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. Our research interest scope ranges from fundamental basic molecular mechanisms of DNA repair, recombination and replication, to clinical applications. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on a project to study antibiotic-induced mutagenesis and roles of the stringent response in it, in Escherichia coli. This position will lead a project on how quinolones induce mutagenesis. This position will require expertise in flow cytometry of bacteria, E. coli stress responses and stress-induced mutagenesis.

Job Duties

Constructs strains, performs experiments and analyzes the data.
Develops genetic next generation sequencing assays.
Writes, revises and takes full responsibility of first-author manuscript publications associated with their research projects.
Documents experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others.
Trains graduate students to continue development of the research project.
Presents research findings as part of scientific meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
No experience required.
