The Coordinator of Communications for CFA plays a vital role in the College of Fine Arts marketing and management team, communicating and engaging with students, alumni, patrons, and the community, .and providing support for and guidance on promotional materials and activities.

Job Function:

The Coordinator of Communications for CFA plays a vital role in the College of Fine Arts marketing and management team, communicating and engaging with students, alumni, patrons, and the community, .and providing support for and guidance on promotional materials and activities.

Minimum Education:

Associate’s degree or:
1. An equivalent combination of two years of education and related experience in office administration / secretarial work or related field OR
2. Two years of related experience in office administration / secretarial work, or related field.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a field related to the duties and responsibilities of the position (e.g., journalism, public relations, communications).

Minimum Experience:

At least one year of experience in a promotional and/or scheduling function with related administrative/clerical experience.

Preferred Experience:

At least one year of experience in a promotional and/or scheduling function with related secretarial/clerical experience.

Experience with or articulated interest in working in an arts focused environment.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate artistic events and happenings in writing for a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to website updates, university calendar, digital signage, and communications center.
  • Gather materials, coordinate approval process, and create all programs for all CFA performance and programming venues and for CFA special events taking place both on and off campus.

  • Maintain accurate program archives and records for CFA unit accreditation purposes; Coordinate photo and video archive sessions for selected programs; Supervise compilation and dissemination of archival and publicity materials; Arrange for transfer of materials to university archives in University Libraries.

  • Work in collaboration with supervisor and Coordinator of Guest Services to facilitate the marketing and engagement plans of CFA and its units.
  • As deemed appropriate, serve as a marketing and management representative to the CFA and unit event, programming, and planning committees, including, but not limited to programming and production committee meetings, ensemble meetings, visiting artists committees,
  • Hire, train, and supervise marketing student staff, including paid employees, interns, and practicum students.

  • Supervise compilation and dissemination of archival School of Music publicity materials; arrange for transfer of materials to university archives in University Libraries.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance within a forty-hour flexible work week.
