Open to all staff in the School of Medicine
We are looking to appoint an Athena Swan Lead to support the School of Medicine.
Are you committed to advancing gender and intersectional equality? Can you provide leadership to support the development and promotion of best practice in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion?
The School is committed to the aims and principles of Athena Swan. Athena Swan is a progressive charter which seeks to advance gender and intersectional equality, for colleagues and students in UK higher education. The School holds a Gold Award, which recognises our significant record of activity and achievement in promoting gender equality and in addressing challenges across different disciplines.
You will support the School to progress its Athena Swan action plan in preparation for a Gold renewal submission in 2024 by providing leadership to the Athena Swan Steering Group (ASSG) and working with the School Lead for EDI and the Faculty EDI Team to accelerate gender and intersectional equality via student and staff initiatives.
We are looking for an enthusiastic leader, with a personal commitment to driving forward equality, diversity and inclusion in the School. To assist the School in addressing a wide range of gender and intersectional issues and promoting an inclusive culture for all staff, a varied gender representation within the group is important. We therefore encourage and welcome applications from cisgender men*, transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid colleagues.
*Please note, we use "cisgender men" to denote those whose gender identity is the same as the sex they were assigned at birth.
To explore the post further or for any queries you may have, please contact:
Professor Bridgette Bewick (School Lead for EDI) ([email protected]).
How to apply:
Applications should be in the form of a short expression of interest (max 2 sides of A4) demonstrating how you meet the criteria on the person specification. This should be sent to Sam Hawkins ([email protected]).
