Summary

Our Pediatrics - Hematology and Oncology department is seeking a skilled Senior Coordinator, Accounting. The candidate will be responsible for performing accounting related duties for the department including preparing budgets, obtaining funding approval, and entering journal entries (including revenue and expenses) into the appropriate systems (SAP, Concur, etc). The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining Cancer and Hematology Center financial records (PDF, philanthropy, grant) and ensuring that all transactions are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal, state, and BCM and TCH guidelines.

 

This position may offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and maintains financial records and related reports for philanthropic gifts, TCH grants and other TCH accounts.
  • Reviews expenditures and revenue to make sure they are allocated to the appropriate cost centers and chartfield strings on the BCM and TCH side.
  • Processes uploads into SAP and related reports, including budget detail manifests.
  • Ensures appropriate deposits, checks and funds are placed in the correct cost centers. 
  • Reviews and processes vendor invoices and interacts with Purchasing for procard related issues. 
  • Assists accountant and financial analyst in completing files and documentation for philanthropy and TCH grant journal entries. 
  • Maintains files for projections and forecasting of encumbrances on philanthropic and TCH funds. 
  • Assists business coordinator in backup for TXCH financial management for travel.
  • Ensures that TCH and BCM operational and philanthropy accounts are appropriately maintained and used as appropriate funding sources while adhering to Baylor and Texas Children's guidelines. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business field.
  • Excel experience.
  • Concur experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and related systems. Ability to effectively use word processing and MS Office suite.
  • Experience working in a team environment with cross-functional activities, "pitching in" in a fast-paced environment where mutual support of colleagues is ongoing.
  • Proven ability to work with little supervision, provide feedback, and manage time to meet deadlines under the challenge and stress of frequent interruptions and frequently changing priorities.
