The purpose of the Director of Player Development is to assist the coaching staff with critical information on current and prospective student athletes and scouting information on opponents. Responsibilities include, not but not limited to video analysis, scouting reports, implementing and tracking student athlete development.

Additionally, the Director of Player Development must demonstrate personal accountability, including (1) compliance with the compliance staff directives and (2) adherence to Athletics Department and University policies as well as NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists coaching staff with preparation of opponent scouting reports and analyze and breakdown video.
  • Liaison between program and technology vendors including internal liaison with business office to ensure program is maintaining policy and paying vendors on schedule.
  • Collaborates with coaches on individual player development.
  • Manages set up of technology and responsible for providing coaches scouting materials at home and away games.
  • Assists Recruiting Coordinator when permissible (video evaluation, recruiting calendar and schedules of when prospects compete).
  • Assists director of operations with team travel.
  • Assist with all on campus recruiting activities.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor Degree, AND 

  • 36 months of collegiate experience in assigned sport

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 84 months of experience

Skills:

  • 4-5 years of collegiate softball experience
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of coaches, administration and student-athletes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Preferences: 

  • Knowledge of NCAA/Big 12 Rules
  • Basic understanding of Synergy/Dartfish Video sharing system
  • Basic to advanced understanding of Trackman Radar/Flightscope System

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Crouch, pull, push, reach, stand, engage in repetitive motions, grasp, walk, feel, touch communicate, hear and see including color, depth perception and clarity.
