--- Senior Research Epidemiologist
Essential Duties:
- Studies diseases within populations of humans. Investigates communicable disease outbreaks, chronic illness conditions, disease risk factors, or other adverse health outcomes.
- Collaborates with medical, public health researchers, and scientific researchers in the study design.
- Evaluates public health programs, and develops research instruments.
- Collects, manages and analyzes data. Interprets results, prepares reports, and publishes research.
- Conducts research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for medical application and public health projects.
- Collaborates with medical, public health researchers, and scientific researchers.
- Designs, manages and evaluates study protocols and public health programs, including development of the research design, sample selection plans, and data analysis plans.
- Collects data and performs data entry. Analyzes large amounts of data and interprets data.
- Discusses data and findings with management and presents findings to department head, collaborators, researchers, and other stakeholders.
- Disseminates the results via reports, briefings, presentations, manuscripts, websites and other media.
- Prepares manuscripts, reports and publishes findings.
- Supervises other epidemiologists and staff to include but not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

--- Qualifications:
Working Conditions:
- Physical: Sitting for long periods of time. Manual dexterity.
- Environmental: Office Environment. Contact with infectious diseases.
Experience:
- Required: 24 months experience conducting investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities pertaining to health event identification, surveillance, prevention, and treatment in public health or biomedical science environment which includes 12 months of the 24 months of SAS programming experience.
Education:
- Required: Ph.D. in Epidemiology or related field.
- Will accept a Master’s Degree and 48 months professional epidemiology experience in a public health or biomedical science environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of applied epidemiology and SAS for Public Health practice.
- Ability to collaborate with State and Federal agencies on a wide variety of epidemiological projects.
- Establish and maintain collaborations.
- Advanced knowledge of biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiologic methods, and/or research design.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Effectively address research or program evaluation questions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computing skills using SAS for data processing and analysis and Access or Excel for data management.
