We are looking for a Senior Dental Assistant to join our team. This position provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment. Document patient care and take and develop x-rays. May provide administrative assistance.  Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures to include but not limited to  placement of bases and liners and placement and removal of rubber dams, insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations.
 
Duties:
  • Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry
  • Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment.
  • Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • Follows infection control protocol and prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment
  • Greets patient and gets them situated in the treatment room
  • Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
  • Takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
  • May perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
  • Schedules appointments, answers phones, data entry, and orders supplies
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position
 

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED
 

Experience:  24 months experience performing chair side dental assistance

 
Equivalency/Substitution: Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) is equivalent to 12 months of experience
 
Certifications/Licenses:
  • Required to have 2 of the 4 Certifications from Oklahoma Board of Dentistry: Radiation Protection and Safety, Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride, Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants, Assisting in the Administration of Nitrous Oxide
Working Conditions: 
  • Physical: Standing for long periods of time.  Manual dexterity. Speaking, listening, walking and reaching.
  • Environmental: Clinic Environment. Exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
