We are looking for a Senior Dental Assistant to join our team. This position provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment. Document patient care and take and develop x-rays. May provide administrative assistance. Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures to include but not limited to placement of bases and liners and placement and removal of rubber dams, insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations.

Duties:

Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry
Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment.
Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays)
Follows infection control protocol and prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment
Greets patient and gets them situated in the treatment room
Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
Takes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
May perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
Schedules appointments, answers phones, data entry, and orders supplies
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Experience: 24 months experience performing chair side dental assistance

Equivalency/Substitution: Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) is equivalent to 12 months of experience

Certifications/Licenses:

Required to have 2 of the 4 Certifications from Oklahoma Board of Dentistry: Radiation Protection and Safety, Coronal Polishing and Topical Fluoride, Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants, Assisting in the Administration of Nitrous Oxide

Working Conditions:

Physical: Standing for long periods of time. Manual dexterity. Speaking, listening, walking and reaching.
Environmental: Clinic Environment. Exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
