The University of Oklahoma Entrepreneurial Law Center (OU/ELC) in the Price College of Business will be the first law clinic in the state specifically designed to provide legal and business counseling to technology entrepreneurs and small business startups. Oklahoma is currently one of only 11 states in the United States and the only state in the Big12 region that does not provide such a service. The OU/ELC will provide critical, early stage legal and business counseling to technology entrepreneurs and small business owners thatare otherwise lacking access to critical legal and business resources. 

The OU/ELC will provide outreach that connects statewide to under-served clientswithin urban, rural and Native American communities.Small business innovators face an expensiveand often-confusing process to evaluate complex legal and business issues such as intellectual property protection and exploitation strategies.Many are unable to navigate these issuesalone and cannot access and/or aford external resources with the necessary expertise to provide support.

Core Tasks

  • Responsible for program management and oversight of day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for daily program management throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Aligns deliverables to the program's outcome.
  • Meets with stakeholders to discuss program status and goals.
  • Manages the program budget. Develops proposals, negotiates and administers grants and contracts.
  • Supervises staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Provides oversight of ongoing projects.
  • Interfaces with university departments, funding sources, outside organizations and state;government agencies.
  • Assesses program effectiveness and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Manages program documentation, data collection, and reporting.
  • Develops program goals and objectives.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:

  •  48 months of program development, program management or related experience. 

Equivalency Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

  • Attention to detail and standards for exceptional client experience
  • Executive communication and ability to influence stakeholders form senior positions
  • An understanding of accounting and budgets
  • Ability to support mulitple functions (program management, slaes, admin support, etc)
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to effectively evaluate projects/ programs and produce comprehensive reports
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate well with others.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master's degree in business or related field

Supervision: 1-5 Student employees or staff
