Job Description
Summary
Contribute to the strategic efforts and lead implementation for pre-award and/or post award grant activities and programs. Will also support the Center for Antibacterial Therapeutics – Anthony (a strategic research center).
Job Duties
- Grants and contracts pre-award for 11 faculty and post-award for 5 faculty.
- Administrative management of TAILOR service center and Cultivation core.
- Consult with faculty regarding funding opportunities, eligibility, and application requirements for sponsored funding. The opportunities can range from simple fellowship grants to complex grants and contracts.
- Oversee staff to ensure correct entry of proposals in BCM Brain as well as the proper formatting of Grants.gov documents.
- Oversee administrative staff responsible for purchasing, goods receipt and travel.
- Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the department's annual budget.
- Responsible for the review and entry of all staff cost distributions in PEPT effort system.
- Review projections on all WBS elements and cost centers and meet with faculty to discuss the report and revise as necessary.
- Direct liaison with all granting agency program and contracting officers, as well as pharmaceutical contacts.
- Monitor postdoctoral associate/fellow appointments to request annual increases per NIH scale when appropriate.
- Pre-review faculty and staff effort in ERS for certification. • Set up new accounts, resolve expense reallocations, re -budgeting of funds and close out of completed accounts.
- Provide grant program expertise, financial expertise, and guidance related to sponsored research to leaders and faculty.
- Review and approve grant applications, certifying summary data in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
- Contribute and lead the development and continuous improvement of the pre-award and post award grants management process.
- Review and analyze current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process. Make recommendations for process revisions and lead implementation of changes as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.

- Experience in Baylor systems: BRAIN, ERS, Concur, iLabs, CCM Portal, SRM, SAP, SuccessFactors, PEPT, SGA and Workday
