Job Description

Summary

The Software Engineering and Programming Specialist will assist other CCIT developers in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining the Center’s portfolio of web and mobile applications, infrastructure, and other technical products. This position will work directly with faculty and staff at the College and other collaborating institutions to assist in developing requirements, managing projects, and supporting end-users. This position may also contribute to big data projects, involving data management pipelines, analysis, and visualizations. To ensure success, the candidate should possess a willingness to learn from other developers as well as outside resources, accept constructive feedback on work products, and strive to complete projects on time and with attention to detail.

 

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

  • Participates in all aspects of development and maintenance of web sites and web and mobile applications, primarily using the Django web framework and React Native mobile application framework and other technologies as required.
  • Leads development on one or more small- to medium-sized projects.
  • Works directly with collaborators and clients to develop requirements and ensure project success.
  • Assists the technical team in development and maintenance of cloud infrastructure in AWS.
  • Assists the technical team in ensuring security and compliance in all production products.
  • Assists technical and research teams in conducting data analysis, reporting, and visualizations.
  • Collaborates with other developers to develop and test software products.
  • Produces and maintains website content, reports, and analytics.
  • Researches and assesses new technologies and methodologies.
  • Develops, maintains, and enters website content, such as images, video, and text.
  • Uses user feedback and testing results to identify problems and opportunities in the Center’s technical projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • No experience required with Bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of experience with Python, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Flexibility in the workplace.
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback and instruction.
  • Goal-oriented and deadline driven outlook.
  • A publicly available portfolio of relevant work such as an active GitHub profile or demonstrated experience documented by letters of recommendation or performance in work settings.
