Responsible for data collection, calibration, quality control, and equipment maintenance.

Duties:

Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots issues with equipment.
Ensures safety of the work environment.
Identifies data errors and problems via quality assurance methodologies.
Supervises field operations involving students or university researchers.
Assists in the installation and preventive maintenance of field infrastructure, including telecommunications and mechanical equipment.
Assists in calibration lab operations.
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School diploma or GED, AND

18 months of experience with instrumentation in a research or laboratory setting, engineering, or electronics.

Skills:

Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
Experience with basic electrical systems, electric power tools, and hand tools
Read and understand complex written materials such as blueprints, metrics, or technical manuals
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Licenses / Certifications:

Advertised Physical/Environmental Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
Ability to walk for short or extended time periods.
The work environment is mainly field based.
Works outside for long periods in all weather conditions.
May be required to travel.
May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures.
May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.

Department Preferences:

Experience with Rosemount transmitters, HART Communicators, Allen Bradley PLC, and industrial electrical experience.
