Job Description

---

The summer bridge program is a pillar of the Diversity and Inclusion program. Summer Bridge is an academic success program that annually enrolls a new cohort of 50 students that through the admissions process are invited to participate in the Gallogly College of Engineering pre-engineering summer bridge program. The Summer Bridge program focuses on supporting the personal and academic development and achievement of students in the Gallogly College of Engineering, especially women and students from historically marginalized communities. The summer bridge director will work collaboratively with GCoe staff, the Deans office, the Math Department, University College Advising Office, Housing and Food Services, and other departments on campus. Tasks include recruiting incoming first year students, especially women and students from historically marginalized communities; assigning students in their summer bridge math courses, selecting and training collaborative camp counselors, designing and teaching a 4-week Skills for Success seminar series, creating opportunities for the students to connect with faculty outside the classroom and managing other summer bridge programming. To increase retention, during the academic year the director plans team building and community development events, and develops and delivers the program content for meetings/presentations. Additionally, the director provides advising and counseling to the summer bridge students. The director serves as an advocate for students in the academic review process and makes appropriate referrals to college and campus services as necessary. The director gathers information and data to complete program reports. The director makes presentations, develops relationships, and distributes information to internal and external audiences. The director of summer bridge works towards successfully achieving our diversity and inclusion program goals with the diversity and inclusion team.
