Summary

The Department of Hematology & Oncology at Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist. This role involves preparing entry-level and basic financial reports for assigned Principal Investigator's (PI's) federal, private, and state grants and assisting with preparation of the BCM Annual budget. This role will also analyze awards for special conditions/restrictions.

 

This position may offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

  • Gathers data for financial reports for assigned PI's by running reports from SAP inclusive of personnel, supplies, services, and other expenses, by completing an excel spreadsheet/report for analysis (this report includes pivot tables and v-look up tables which ultimately provides an overview for the PI on their overall awarded budget, implementing posted and projected expenses while ensuring the PI remains within budget and in full compliance per the grant guidelines). 
  • Assists with the BCM Annual Budget which includes accounting for cost and effort for faculty and staff on assigned grants and applicable expenses for other budgeted categories.  
  • Reconciles accounts, reviews shopping carts, travel requests, and any and all financial transactions involving assigned grant accounts.
  • Performs reporting and analysis for small number of awards (<20) and a small threshold amount (<$250K), identifying trends and reporting these out to the lead financial analyst.
  • Works with smaller grants (pilot projects, R02, R21) for post award activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field. No experience required with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Extensive Excel and Outlook knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
