Summary

The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Director. This position is for the new DLDCCC Director's research lab where the Lab Director will support several principle investigators in one or more designated oncology disease areas. This support includes, but is not limited to planning, coordinating scientific projects and research, as well as providing technical support and guidance to faculty and PIs. This is a new lab site set up and will require a self starter who can take initiative and progress as seamlessly as possible to full operations (quick turn around upon transition).

Job Duties

  • Assist with development and oversight of grant budgets, expenditure of grant funds and reporting of expenses
  • Design, maintain, update intranet and internet laboratory information for public and private sites
  • Establish procedures for lab protocol, to include lab equipment, maintenance, repair, and inventory
  • Supervise lab staff
  • Conduct lab research with PIs
  • Manage time and multiple projects efficiently while prioritizing deadlines and projects
  • Maintain a high quality work production in the context of working in a research lab within an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
