Summary

The Executive Director, Business Operations (Mission Finance) leads the mission support group financial management operations team and is responsible for advising, overseeing, and collaborating on strategic and complex financial management in the extension of the Senior Vice President and Dean of Research. In addition, the Executive Director ensures the successful implementation and execution of Mission finance management through effective communication, implementation, and integration of objectives.  This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.

 

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties

  • Lead complex mission finance and budget functions. This position has the overarching fiscal responsibility for directing the mission support group's financial staff and managing financial resources to achieve optimal utilization, which includes financial planning, budgeting, contracting, and accounting functions.
  • Responsible for overseeing and preparing annual mission-level and sub-departmental budgets.
  • Support all parts of the procurement process for the mission support group.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President and other senior staff with mission problem-solving around financial performance and business processes.
  • Direct and develop a functional space plan for mission support group sub-departments, and coordinate the support services necessary to ensure the operation of the mission's facilities.
  • Lead process improvement/project and change management; drives continuous improvement in all domains and participates in College-wide efforts.
  • Support the preparation, submission, and administration of mission-level grants and contracts.
  • May serve or lead mission-wide project teams and may also serve on or lead mission committees.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal laws, state laws, and Baylor College of Medicine policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fifteen years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and eleven years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience will also be considered.
  • Experience as a Director or above in Higher education and/or Healthcare administration finance.
