Summary

The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is looking to hire a Research Technician I to provide technical assistance to support ongoing research with Dr. Jason Mills & Dr. Charles Cho's laboratory on stem cells, regeneration, and how they contribute to tumorigenesis. The laboratory is focused on studying how ribosomes are dynamically regulated during stress. The technician will join the research team located at the main campus of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. This competitive research project is not only important for basic science understanding of fundamental cell processes but also has significant near-term translational potentials.

Job Duties

  • Performs and conducts lab experiments. 
  • Performs experiments to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations, and record and analyze research data generated from experiments and prepare presentations.
  • Operates and maintains small lab equipment.
  • Follows laboratory safety protocols and training.
  • Maintains notebooks and inventory logs associated with supplies and patient sample screening.
  • Coordinates shipping and receiving of research samples for collaborating labs.
  • Perform simple stainings (H&E, IF, IHC).
  • Submits samples, maintains and organizes slides and paraffin blocks.
  • Performs mousework (husbandry, injections).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in laboratory is desired. 
  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
