Rider University’s Center for International Education seeks an Administrative Specialist to provide, with little to no direction and using broad level of skills and knowledge, advanced administrative support to assigned staff.  Individual will: operate independently in prioritizing own workload and that of others in determining how best to accomplish work objectives; be proactive in identifying, following through, and resolving various issues; participate in special projects, as required; maintain confidentiality in the areas of Director, Global Programs Manager and Assistant Director of International Admissions; type, proofread, and compose correspondences, letters for students and brochures; enter data for all study abroad students to maintain accurate and up-to-date records within StudioAbroad (application software); prepare and submit purchase orders and check requests; purchase office supplies; maintain accurate files of all study abroad candidates and assist with the acceptance and orientation process; monitor and balance office budgets; update internal manuals on application procedures and operational calendars; update promotional materials on an annual basis or as needed; maintain accurate required data records for international students by utilizing Banner and Slate; update and maintain international student and study abroad websites utilizing StudioAbroad; maintain liaisons and coordinated functions with other departments; assist in the implementation of International and Study Abroad Programs (promotional events, orientations, international week and other events, ordering catering, requesting transportation, etc); supervise and train, as necessary, graduate and undergraduate assistants; and liaise with University-wide administrative offices on campus for critical study abroad administrative functions, i.e. transcript processing for study abroad returnees.

Position Requirements

A High School diploma or equivalent is required with 4-6 years of related work experience. Demonstrated effective communication and customer service skills required. Working knowledge of standard office equipment required. Computer proficiency is required with an emphasis on word processing, spreadsheet, and data management skills. Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently prioritize and organize own work schedule, multi-task, and meet established deadlines. Demonstrated record keeping, and organization skills required. Ability to delegate work responsibly to others, monitor the work of others, and provide ongoing guidance, and leadership to others. Demonstrated experience or ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Bachelor’s degree, foreign language skills and experience living in a different culture are preferable.  Intercultural communication skills are preferred.
